The Youth Group have had a busy 2014 so far. From January to March we completed the Alpha Course with our older members. This led to some thought-provoking discussions.
At Easter we had a variety of events, including a Maundy Thursday walk and Agape Meal; Easter Garden building, Stations of the Cross and Hot Crossed Buns on Good Friday morning; and a chocolate workshop on Easter Monday.
In the summer term we started weekly Friday evening meetings during term time which continue to run from 5pm-7pm in the Church Hall. These start with worship based on contemporary films, TV shows, pop music etc. and lead on to fun and games with the X Box, DVDs, a tuck shop, giant beanbags and sometimes even Elsa the cock-a-poo! We are very lucky to have received a grant from the diocese which has paid for a brand new television with integrated DVD player, X Box, laptop, projector and screen, and everyone’s favourite beanbags. Entry to Sunday meetings is free!!!
During the summer holidays we enjoyed two trips – one to see Guardians of the Galaxy at the Odeon and the other to West Midlands Safari Park. School holiday trips will continue! On 13th September, some of our members took part in a Musical Supper which raised nearly £300 to be shared between the Youth Group and general church funds.
The year will remain busy as we have a stall at the Ruabon Lions Fun and Food Day on 27th September, our youngsters will be helping to prepare shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child and we have our post-Christingle Christmas party to look forward to.
New members aged 10+ are always welcome!!
