St Mary's Church Bellringers Annual Report 2014

Ringers range in age currently from 8 to around 70 years old. Ringing generally call changes and some method ringing, are noted for good striking, having won competitions in the Wrexham branch of the association, and also the North Wales competitions.

Ring of six bells, the tenor being approx. 12 cwt. Originally four, they were added to in 1768 at the expense of Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, Bart.
Major refurbishment was undertaken in 1998 when a new frame was installed, and all associated fittings renewed. The bells themselves were were taken to the John Taylor foundry at Loughborough for tuning. The entire cost was paid from funds from the Land Fill Tax.

The bells are rung at 9-00 for the 9-30am Sunday service. Ringing also takes place for other services as required and announced.

Bell practice takes place on Thursday evening at 7-15 until 8-45pm. Visitors and those interested in learning to ring are most welcome, but please check the contact below to make sure ringing is taking place as on odd occasions we do need to cancel.

On Passion Sunday 2012, Rev. Trish blessed a new set of bell ropes during the morning Eucharist. St. Mary's has been fortunate to receive a donation from E Clarke and Son Funeral Directors, Wrexham to pay for the ropes in full. Pictured are Rev. Trish, Sian Jones representing E Clarke and Son and some of the ringers sporting their new T-Shirts, also sponsored by the funeral directors.
